As a companion to the Voice of the Student project, AAF has launched the “Voice of the Teacher” to explore the teacher perspective on the design of the learning environment. Combined, these two initiatives will provide school district leaders and architects valuable insight and perspective on the future of school design from two often under-represented perspectives. The study includes a series of focus groups, facilitated by AAF President Ron Bogle, with educators at the Rosa Parks School in Portland, Oregon, the Denver School of Science and Technology in Denver, Colorado, Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona, California, High Tech High Chula Vista in Chula Vista, California and Northside College Preparatory High School in Chicago, Illinois. Following the focus groups, an online survey will be developed to question a larger sample of educators nationally. The results of this national study will be released in 2010.
